Sensei, it was going on ten years since Erwin last had the privilege of such a title. Not since his days with the Land of Iron, although monitoring troop deployment and managing S.O.A.R.'s agendas was a little different then overseeing the growth and training of three young shinobi, but regardless it was a privilege for any soldier to pass on his knowledge and strengthen the next generation. Erwin wanted to look professional for his first meeting with his new charges, not like that was really an issue seeing as he usually dressed somewhat professional anyway but that was beside the point. In the end he decided simply to wear his old military uniform with some of it's Kirigakure updates, figuring it would be something fitting for the occasion. From another person's perspective this uniform consisted of a black thigh-length military officer's jacket with white trimming and buttons, a pair of black slacks that were tucked into a pair of black combat boots, a black plated eyepatch with the Kirigakure village symbol inscribed onto it, and two swords hanging from his left waist.

Beneath his jacket Erwin wore his personal flak jacket equipped with his usual arsenal, and beneath that he had on his typical utility belt-suspender combination and tight fitting black undershirt. To top it all off he threw on his white trench coat as he prepared to leave, to say he was layered would be an understatement, but he preferred to be prepared. The morning mist tended to be fairly cool anyway, and his trench coat was designed both to keep the heat in cold weather and soak up as little ambient heat as possible in warm weather, so it didn't bother him. After locking up Erwin made his way towards the Hidden Mist's training ground as the dim light from the morning sun began to pierce the thick mist that gave the city it's name. He had sent word to his new students for them to meet him at the "Bloody Food" restaurant at 7:30 am, which was a stones throw from the entrance to the "Bloody Mist" training grounds, its namesake. "Bloody Food" was a fairly well known establishment to anyone that frequented the training grounds, and where Erwin had a corner table reserved for himself and his three new apprentices.

The "Bloody Food" was nothing high end but it had good food and catered to a lot of shinobi, because of this they rarely had any "less than lawful" customers. Not to mention it was just down from Erwin's house and a place he visited frequently. Erwin was greeted with the familiar scent of coffee and tea as he entered the restaurant, there were only a few others in the restaurant at this hour so it was nice and quiet. After nodding to the man behind the main counter at the back Erwin took his seat at the corner table to the left of the entrance, removing his white trench coat and folding it over the back of his chair in the process. There was already a steaming cup of nigh pitch black coffee on the table as well as three placemats and menus placed for his guests, two Genin named Chikara Shurajo and Katashi Sakumotsu, and a Chuunin named Aiko Kaguya. If he remembered correctly Chikara and Aiko were on a team of their own that had been disbanded for some reason or another, or perhaps he was simply taking over for that team with this new one.

Either way Erwin was familiar with at least one of their names, or surnames that is. The Kaguya Clan was rather famous for their savagery and love of war, and to top it off every once in a long while they gave birth to a rather powerful kekkei genkai. Whether or not Aiko had this gift Erwin didn't know, and to be frank didn't care, but given the clan's past Erwin would be sure to pay attention to Aiko. He had no qualms with brutality when directed at the proper targets, but he didn't like the idea of potential instability in his men. In all honesty he hadn't heard much about any of them, his work wasn't focused around monitoring the activities of up and coming shinobi, but he was given the basics on their skillset. Apparently all three of them were fairly skilled with hand to hand combat and both men were well acquainted with weaponry, particularly Katashi whose sensory abilities made his skillset not too different than Erwin's own. Both Chikara and Aiko were familiar with ninjutsu, Chikara was familiar with genjutsu and medical jutsu, and Aiko was fairly skilled with fuinjutsu. All in all this team could prove to be a good match for each other, but only time would tell. Since he was a little early Erwin had some time to kill, so he would simply sit there patiently, sipping on his coffee as he waited for his new apprentices to arrive.

Kiri Genin
Today was to be the day he would meet his first shinobi squad.  He felt he was finally becoming a true member of the village his family chose to call their home.  He had always hoped to visit his family's ancestral home at some point in his life but for now he would need to be content with living and serving his current home, Kirigakure.  And to do that he needed to get out from underneath the heavy covers that kept him dry and warm from the morning Kirigakure air.  Something he always dreaded doing first thing in the morning.  The warmth was too inviting, and warm, for him to get up just then.  Of course, that was before his mother came into the room carrying a pot filled to the brim with half frozen water.  He knew what was about to happen if he wasn't out of the bed by the time she got to his bed.  In a split second, the covers were mid-air with him in nothing but his underwear almost literally flying towards his dresser to grab his chosen clothes for the day.  The same thing he wore everyday.

The first thing to go on was the ankle length, black, shinobi pants that featured a white line going down the outer seam on both pant legs.  Then, tucked into the pants, was the black, skin tight, long sleeved, turtle neck shirt that he uses as a primary layer of protection from the elements.  Hew could have went out like that, showing off the corded muscles his body possessed but he wasn't one to show off.  And it was cold outside.  It was for this reason that he pulled on one of his identical baggy white t-shirts that featured a shallow V-neck and ended just above his waist so that when he raised his hands above his head, his undershirt showed.  The next thing added to his person were the assortment of pouches he used for carrying his various weapons.  He didn't carry all of his weapons with him, though.  Just enough kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs, and explosive tags to take out a platoon of shinobi should the need arise.  Plus the small scroll he kept in the small of his back in case he never needed to seal some weapons inside something.  His final weapon was the medium length katana he had on his left hip, blade facing up.  This was his favored weapon.

As he walked out of his room, his mother having left after he had gotten up, he wrapped the white scarf around his neck to protect it from the elements and to keep it warm.  His final article of clothing to put on, and one he felt naked without, was the forehead protector that featured the Kirigakure symbol prominently on the middle of the metal plate.  It was something he was immensely proud for and something he was more than willing to show off without an ounce of shame.  Once that was tied behind his head he walked out the door, slipping into his shoes, as he made his way to the "Bloody Food" restaurant that their sensei requested them to meet at.  He wasn't completely familiar with the place but he hope they had his favorite meal of broiled Saury and Miso soup served with a piping hot green tea.

Katashi being the first of his young comrades to arrive, would notice the man first.  His eye-patch was the first thing he noticed.  Either the man had lost an eye at some point or he was hiding something underneath.  Maybe he lived underground and kept one eye in darkness to allow his eyes to acclimate easier.  Though it wasn't worth jumping to conclusions by himself.  It would be more fun to wait until he met the rest of his team to begin taking bets on the odds of what was underneath the black eye-patch with the Kirigakure symbol on it.  He bowed in greeting to the man behind the counter before turning to his sensei and approaching.

"Greetings Sensei.  I am Genin Katashi Sakumotsu.  I have been placed in your squad."

He entered a low bow with his arms flat against his sides, elbows bending as his waist does.

Chikara Shurajo

The Crimson Princess

Chikara was tired and exhausted when she had awoken from her slumber at the crack of dawn, Haruna having taken great pleasure in pushing her to her utmost limits when it came to training. And she would have to go through the same training again and she wasn’t looking forward to it, though that was later on in the day. Until than, she had a team meeting to attend to, that wretched Mizukage having placed on onto a new team for one reason or another. Hakai was dead, sure, but that didn’t mean she needed somebody else to be her sensei. She had Akio, and until she departed from Kirigakure, he would be the only person she considered a member of her squad. He would be one of the few people she would miss when she left Kirigakure, as well as Oko, but she could no longer stay within the wretched village she had once loved with all her heart.

Yet, she would refrain from thinking about that particular future plan until the day came, there was still much to do before she was ready to officially join Amatsu, the love of her life, and Haruna, her crazy blonde-haired friend, as a missing shinobi life. No reason to worry herself sick over the details of the plan, she would figure it out when she was prepared to leave. Besides, she still had to introduce Amatsu and Haruna to one another, see how the two mingled before making any further decisions. But she hoped Amatsu liked Haruna, for the girl would be quite the interesting character to have in the group as well as the fact that she was trained in sensory, something the younger two didn’t have.

Chikara sighed, rolling over in the bed and entangling herself in the covers, attempting to replicate the warmth she had felt in Amatsu’s arms during their reunion. Though after five minutes of trying and failing miserably, she gave up, throwing the covers off her small form. She sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes before hopping out of the big bed. She shivered slightly as the cold ran up her spine, but she paid it no mind, instead exiting her papa’s room and entering her own. She noted, for the briefest of moments, that the house was quite quiet without the presence of her papa, but she had immediately shoved the thought to the darkest corners of her mind.

She took out her usual outfit before heading into the shower, spending a couple minutes in there before emerging from the bathroom and getting dressed. She would usually take her mask with her, but since the remnants of her previous squad was all but torn up, she decided against it. But she did take her forehead protector, tying the thing around her neck before exiting her room to have breakfast before departing from her residence. There would be food at the meeting spot, but Haruna had told her that anything she ate better be prepared by her own hands and those that she trust. And having never been to Bloody Food nonetheless know anyone working there, well making her own breakfast was the only option.

It was quick and simple, consisting of a bowl of hot cereal, an apple, a slice of toast, and orange juice. She had eaten her breakfast quickly, making sure that the house was clean before heading to the Bloody Food. Arriving there hadn’t taken much time at all, and upon entering she spotted a vaguely familiar face. Generally she is good at remembering faces, but the name of the particular boy who seemed to be conversing with a one-eyed man didn’t come to mind. Oh well, there was no reason to search her entire brain for the answer, she would get his name soon enough. She glanced around the place, attempting to locate Akio, but since she couldn’t find him she assumed that she had been the second to arrive.

She sighed deeply before putting her radiant smile upon her face, heading straight towards the one-eyed man and the vaguely familiar boy. And Chikara wondered how this meeting shall turn out before greeting the two males.

Hopping out of bead Akio yawn and stretched his limbs out wide. Whimpering softly as he felt how sore his body still was. The wounds he had sustained coupled along with training had taken their toll on his body. Sighing the boy began to get dressed rather slowly. While he had somewhere to be he was in no way worried about being late. Honestly the blue haired chunin took this newly assigned group pretty lightly. After all it hadn't been long since Hakai had left him and Chikara. Throwing on his black pair of baggy pants that most shinobi wore Akio awkwardly hobbled over to grab a shirt. Quickly slipping into the black undershirt the shinobi let out a series of whines and yelps as he bumped the tender welts that were still scattered along his arms, legs, and generally any skin that was exposed. While they were little cuts they still were visible from the sheer amount that were there. Quickly strapping his chunin vest on along with his forearm and shin protectors the boy slipped on his wooden saddles and headed to where he and the 'team' were to meet.

As he slowly made his way to the training ground Akio's mind began to wonder, thinking over the mission he was on with Chikara. Honestly Chikara wasn't suppose to be there at first, but boy was he glad she was. If not Akio surely wouldn't have been alive to tell the story. However it got him thinking about why exactly Hakai had them in a team. Sure they were rather skilled shinobi, not to mention Akio's clan born abilities, but what was it he saw in Chikara. Yes she was a strong fighter, but she didn't seem to have the mindset for it. She always seems to nice, perhaps weak some would say, but Akio knew that wasn't the case. If anything she could possibly be a better hand-to-hand fighter then himself, but that was only if she could tap into the rage Akio had seen when they were on the mission. That wasn't what his main focus was on though, it was whatever secrets she was hiding about the fight with the foreign genin. While they weren't as good of fighters as the two of them the genin still outnumbered them. There was no way Chikara could have handled three of them and not come out with more then a few scratched. Akio wasn't no fool though, he had seen the battlefield, sure it was blurred and hazy, but he knew what he saw while he was carried off.

Sadly Akio couldn't dive too deep into thought about such things though. He had just stepped onto the training grounds when he got into a deep thought. Quickly snapping out of it the chunin sighed and brushed his blue hair out of his face. Revealing the two scratch marks on his cheek that had seemed to be healing much slower then the rest. While they were deeper they were just beginning to form scars while the rest of the small wounds were vanishing. These two were the ones he had sustained from Chikara while he was unconscious. Growling softly as his fingers brushed the cuts Akio walked into the restaurant. Seeing as he only recognized Chikara at the moment the boy went and sat at the table she was near.

Taking his time to sit in the empty chair Akio swallowed as he looked around, seeing and smelling all the food that was being cooked. While he was usually the one shoveling food into his face this was not one of them cases. Lately he had been feeling rather sick from whatever had been coursing through his veins after the mission. Also his skin had not fully regained it's normal pale color. Actually his eyes almost looked a deep grey while the rest of his face was just starting to gain their usual pigment.

Glancing over at Chikara the chunin's disdain for this new group was evident before he put on as content of a look as he could, which just turned out to look like he was bored and a bit uninterested about the current situation. Surely anyone could tell that Akio was a bit unstable at the moment and could get a bit...upset if anyone were to say the wrong thing to him. However Akio would at least attempt to play nice with his new sensei and the third member of the group that had been tacked on to the team.

It wasn't long before the first of his students to arrived, the Genin Katashi Sakumotsu. He seemed like a polite young man, and he came prepared for combat on top of that. So far he seemed like a competent young man, the only questionable aspect about him so far was how he had his katana "blade up" at his hip, but Erwin would address that later if need be. "Greetings Sensei. I am Genin Katashi Sakumotsu. I have been placed in your squad." Yep, definitely a polite young man, and formal too. That much was obvious by the kid's traditional low bow. Whether or not it was genuine politeness or situational Erwin couldn't tell, but either way it spoke well of Katashi's character. "It's a pleasure to meet you Katashi. Please, have a seat." Erwin flashed a smile at the Genin as he motioned to one of the three free chairs at his table. "Feel free to order anything you like while we wait for the rest." Erwin spoke in a polite and relaxed tone, he wanted to put the Genin at ease. There was no need for Katashi to be quite so formal, but it did speak well of him. Not long after Katashi's arrival the second of his new students had arrive, the Genin, and only female of the group, Chikara Shurajo.

She seemed to be looking for someone else in the restaurant, presumably her old squad mate Aiko. Regardless she didn't seem to be all too excited to be there, that much was evident by her demeanor and the brief sigh she did before putting on her "face". Erwin was sure that he wasn't supposed to see that but very few things escape his trained sight, and for now he would ignore it. Even if she wasn't fond of the idea of a new squad she seemed at least capable enough to bear with it. "Good morning Ms. Shurajo, feel free to order anything you like while we wait for our last member." Erwin spoke in the same polite relaxed tone that he did to Katashi as he motioned to the two remaining seats. Almost as if on queue their last teammate entered the restaurant, the Chuunin Akio Kaguya, and like the last he didn't look like he wanted to be there. He also looked a little under the weather, coupled with the numerous cuts faintly visible on his exposed skin Erwin wagered that he had recently been in a fight or on a mission. Aiko didn't say a word as he filled the one remaining seat but Erwin nodded in greetings just the same, which was right about the time a waitress brought out a platter with a pot of green tea with three cups and refilled Erwin's coffee. "Thank you." "Let me know whenever you're ready to order." The waitress flashed a smile at the group as she left the platter in the center of the table, taking any orders from the three new arrivals before returning to her usual duties.

Aiko's contempt for this groups was blatantly obvious to Erwin, even though he tried to put on a mask of bored content. Given the likely fatigue from whatever gave him those cuts coupled with whatever was ailing him Aiko was likely to be a bit on edge, most people would be. Either way it was time to proceed. "Now that we're all here allow me to introduce myself. My name is Erwin Ekkehard, and I'll be taking over your post academy deployment and development." This time Erwin spoke in a slightly more professional tone, pausing momentarily to take a sip from his coffee and observe his new students. "I'm sure some of you are thinking that you don't need a squad or a sensei to achieve your goals, and the truth is you're probably right." Erwin paused once more to gauge their reactions and take another sip of coffee. "I'm not here to guide you down that path, I'm here to help realize the goals of our city and our nation by passing on my knowledge and ensuring that your generation is as prepared as it can possibly be to handle everything this world throws at you. Should my guidance also aid you down the path to your personal goals then all the better, no?" Never straying from his polite and professional tone Erwin laid out his goal for the group quite plainly for everyone to hear, he didn't like to sugarcoat things when it came to subordinates, in his opinion being direct made a more solid foundation to build trust upon.

"Now I don't want you to think that you can't come to me with personal issues." Erwin paused for a moment to take another sip of coffee. "You are now my students, my comrades, my men. As far as I'm concerned that makes you just as important as close friends and family. Maintaining the stability of your personal life is part of making sure that you're mentally prepared to aid our country. But know this, no one person is more important than an entire country, family or otherwise." Erwin's tone and demeanor switched to a far more serious one to finish off his speech, one that usually sent chills down the spine of new recruits back in the Land of Iron, but he didn't maintain this demeanor for long. "Unless of course that person is capable of saving said country, but that's beside the point." Flashing a smile Erwin lightened his demeanor drastically before taking another sip of coffee. It was about this time that the waitress would return with any food that his students had ordered. "Now then, let's get down to business, I'd like to know a little more about each of you. Why did you become a shinobi? How much combat experience you've had? What is your preferred role in a group? Stuff like that. And if you have any questions feel free to ask them."

((OOC: By blade up I mean cutting edge up))

Katashi rose from the deep bow after his Sensei asked him to have a seat at the table. The smile that normally adorned his face grew bigger at the thought of being able to order whatever he wanted from restaurant after sitting down. Of course with the constant arrival of his new teammates, or not so new in the case of Chikara, he did not have a chance to bring the waitress over without seeming rude. It wasn't until after the last team member, a Chunin, arrived that Katashi would get a chance to order his food. He waited for his cup of green tea to be poured before speaking.

"Thank you miss. If it wouldn't be too much trouble I would like a salt-broiled Saury and a bowl of Miso Soup. Thank you."

As he waited, for both his food and his Sensei to begin speaking, he looked over his fellow teammates. The female of the group was very familiar to him but he couldn't quite put his finger on where she was from. Then he turned to the Chunin. He seemed to be bored with the squad meeting but Katashi couldn't blame him. He would be bored to if he was placed on a squad of Genin as a Chunin. Of course he hoped the boredom wouldn't inhibit him from wanting to at least become sociable with his teammates.

Then Katashi was brought out of his reverie by the sound of his Sensei's voice cutting through the silence. Katashi listened intently as his Sensei introduced himself as Erwin Eckhart and then suddenly change his tone from a friendly one to a more professional one. His Sensei talked about how he wasn't there to help them achieve their goals but to help them understand the goals of Kirigakure and the Land of Water and to be prepared for whatever the world threw at them. Katashi could understand the reasoning behind this logic, if only barely, but he wasn't going to say anything about being stronger was most people's goals as a shinobi. Not Katashi's. He just wanted to be a great shinobi, which strength isn't a necessity to be great. Katashi continued to listen in-between taking sips of his green tea, which was piping hot. And then it was his turn to speak again but before he did he needed to think about some of the answers.

"My name is Katashi Sakumotsu. I became a shinobi to prove myself to my family. There is a long line of great shinobi in my family going all the way back to when they lived in Konohagakure. My umpteenth granddad is said to have known Naruto Uzumaki you know. But I don't believe those children's stories anymore. But that is why I became a shinobi. To make sure my family continues its line of great shinobi. As for combat experience, I was in a squad before this but we never did any missions and then that Sensei disappeared as did a some of the squad-mates." Then with a look of shock and disbelief, Katashi looked at Chikara. "That's where I know you from. You were on my squad then. What luck is that. Being on the same squad as each other twice." Then it was time to answer which position of the squad he wanted to be on. That was a hard one. Katashi gave a small shrug as he answered the question. "I honestly don't know. I'm good at fighting with weapons or my fists and I'm good at knowing when someone is around. But anything relating to Ninjutsu I'm absolutely shit at. So I guess I would prefer any position that puts me right in front of my enemy."

Katashi motioned with his hand that he was done speaking as he took a sip of his green tea that brought the savory liquid in his cup to the halfway mark. Of course at the mention of asking questions, he had better manners to ask the question that was at the forefront of his mind. And that was why he didn't ask any questions after he stopped talking about himself. He had no others for his new Sensei.

Chikara Shurajo

The Crimson Princess

Smile upon her face, Chikara sat herself at the table, right next to the individual who had been apart of team Hakai before the man had went and gotten himself killed. She hadn’t mourn his death, for she held a great deal of contempt for ripping her happiness away from her, having forced her to personally take the life of her Uncle Genesis. She had been depressed for sometime, even angry that the person she was suppose trust would do something like that, and it wasn’t like he didn’t know. He knew, she knew he knew because of that knowing smile that had spread across his face when he had revealed who she had beheaded. It was at that moment that she decided that the higher ups couldn’t be trust, and they were as cruel as they were corrupt, and she didn’t think any differently about her new sensei. Yet she utilized those tools that Haruna had given her to hide her disdain, and repeated the sentence ‘you will live so get over it’ in her head.

She didn’t order anything for herself, having politely told the waitress so, though she hadn’t mentioned that she had already eaten. Chikara didn’t think she needed to, and she was right about that. She spared Akio a single glance, for the last time she had seen him was after she had killed her uncle. And since than, a lot has happened as well as changed, but she still looked at him as an older brother. Her attention was than turned onto her sensei, having little desire to seem like she was preoccupied with something else for that was rude. She may hold no trust for Kirigakure adults, but that didn’t mean that she would throw her manners to the wind. So he had her full attention, and when he had finished the newly dubbed Katashi had her attention.

The name rang a bell, her brain connecting the dots of who this person was, for she knew that she had seen them before. She delved deep into her thoughts, to a time before Hakai had been her sensei, and she would come to the same revelation Katashi came to. He had been one team Cole with Kaiser and herself, though since the man’s untimely demise she hadn’t seen the two boys since. He briefly made a comment about luck, her mind determining that he thought them lucky that they were on the same squad again, though she didn’t hold the same sentiments. But she wouldn’t comment on how funny luck was or how cruel it can be, he still had the stage and she would allow him to maintain it until he was done. Yet she will do well to inform him of Cole-sensei untimely demise, though she would leave his cowardice out of it. No reason to speak ill of the dead, at least not in the company of others.

Katashi soon finished answering the questions that had been given to them by their sensei, and directing her smile upon the boy she would state how wonderful that sounded. No, it wasn’t sarcasm, it didn’t even make its way into her voice, she merely thought it was the right thing to say. “My turn!” she proclaimed, that smile of hers seemingly growing larger as she prepared to answer Erwin’s questions next. “I am Chikara Shurajo and I became a shinobi to wipe away my criminal record,” she dramatically said, pausing to allow that to sink in before giggling. “I kid about the criminal record, but my name is really Chikara Shurajo and I became a shinobi because papa said that you don’t waste acquired skills.” She cocked her head to the side, “I have a whole life worth of fighting experience, but barely one year of being an actual shinobi. I got put on Cole-sensei team with Katashi, but moved to Hakai’s team after he got killed.”

“I am fairly decent at Ijutsu, though that’s about it,” Chikara chirped, “so I guess medic would be the perfect position for me. Your turn, onii-sama.”

Once the waitress came over and requested the tables order the blue haired boy waited for the rest of his squad to order before saying anything. "I'll just have a glass of water." As he spoke his voice seemed ever so slightly horse, however it wasn't very noticeable unless someone was really focused on his voice. Nodding she continued on to the rest of the group as Chikara began to answer the series of questions that the older gentleman had asked of the three students. Honestly Akio didn't see the point to answering the questions. After all what did it matter if the man knew the kid's motives or skills. Perhaps knowing skills would help, but he should already know them from the documents that every squad leader receives before meeting the squad members.

Akio chuckled slightly when Chikara mentioned a criminal record and then raised an eyebrow when she called him her brother. It didn't bother Akio much, but he was unaware that she viewed him as such a figure. Anyway Akio knew it was his turn and would do his best to please his new sensei while also remaining content with what he would let the man know. However he figured that the man would probably try to get more out of him at some point.

As he took a deep breath the chunin rolled his eyes and began to confront the problems he had with the questions before answering them. "First off, I'm not really sure while you are asking such questions while you have our reports, but I'll comply for the moment." As he finished nitpicking at this man's questions and testing his new boundaries the young man brushed the blue hair from his face and thought back to the questions for a moment, honestly having forgotten them for the moment and having to take some time to think up his answers. "As for the first question I would prefer to keep my motives for becoming a shinobi to myself. In terms of combat experience I have gotten into a few fights and went on some missions that involved danger of some sort also I have trained almost everyday I have been a shinobi. Finally, I guess I would be the most suited for the squad taijutsu user."

A moment of silence fell on the qroup before Akio opened his mouth once more to add something he felt the man wanted him to say even though everyone at the table should know his name. "As for a name you can call me Akio." As he told the group his name Akio could help but scoff for a moment before putting on a smile. He would have added a comment on them eating out, but the chunin thought it would be better to allow this older man to host his own little meet and greet for the time being. Perhaps Akio could benefit from having some rest for the day anyway. However even in his bruised and wounded state the boy would much rather have been outside on the training grounds trying to become stronger then just sitting in a building talking to two knew members of his group that seemed to have been a bit to keen on just doing noting for the day. Then again now that he was thinking about it Akio wasn't sure if it would be wise to question this man's decisions seeing as he had no idea what kind of skills his new sensei had, then again Akio wasn't afraid to do such a thing to Hakai and he knew that there was little chance that the man in front of him now, that was his supposed replacement, was stronger.

Only one of his new students accepted the offer of food, Katashi, which meant that he was more trusting than the other two. Katashi could prove to be the easiest member of the group to mold, more accepting of what Erwin had to offer as a teacher, then again that was speculation. The kid could just be hungry, and without a reason not to trusting a superior officer would be commonplace. On the other hand Chikara and Aiko seemed to be a bit more wary of indulging in Erwin’s hospitality, coupled with his earlier observations of their disdain for being there meant to him that they were likely victims of mistreatment by a superior officer, quite possibly their previous squad leader. Erwin wasn’t privy to much information about Hakai, but the reputation of corrupt and/or ruthless members of the village known as “The Bloody Mist” was something Erwin was familiar with long before he came to the Land of Water. It was likely a touchy subject for them, and for the time being would be something he’d try to avoid. Of course this was also speculation, for all he knew they could have already ate, but he wasn’t in the habit of passing off minor tells as happenstance. Regardless, it was now time for him to listen to his students answer the questions he had laid before them.

As for combat experience, I was in a squad before this but we never did any missions and then that Sensei disappeared as did a some of the squad-mates. That's where I know you from. You were on my squad then. What luck is that. Being on the same squad as each other twice. I honestly don't know. I'm good at fighting with weapons or my fists and I'm good at knowing when someone is around. But anything relating to Ninjutsu I'm absolutely shit at. So I guess I would prefer any position that puts me right in front of my enemy."

First came Katashi. A traditional answer of honoring one’s family if ever there was one, which as long as it was true was a very respectable answer. Countless samurai soldiers follow the same path into the military, and Erwin was no different when he was Katashi’s age. However information about Katashi and Chikara being in the same squad before seemed to had slipped the minds of those who gave Erwin their information but at least there didn’t seem to be any sort of falling out between the two of them, either way he’d have to make sure to look up anything he can find on their old squad later. He did say they didn’t do any missions together and were quickly disbanded, it is possible that those in the Administration Building thought that what little information there was wasn’t important. Katashi was also honest about his capabilities, another good trait in a soldier, he didn’t need anyone that thought they could take on the world without so much as a mission under their belt. He also seemed to be holding back a question, perhaps he was too shy to ask or perhaps it was out of respect. ”A respectable reason, and I’ll be sure to note that for when we get to formation and tactic training.” Erwin spoke in a polite and professional tone, the same he had used before, before nodding towards Chikara for her to go next.

”My turn! I am Chikara Shurajo and I became a shinobi to wipe away my criminal record. I kid about the criminal record, but my name is really Chikara Shurajo and I became a shinobi because papa said that you don’t waste acquired skills. I have a whole life worth of fighting experience, but barely one year of being an actual shinobi. I got put on Cole-sensei team with Katashi, but moved to Hakai’s team after he got killed. I am fairly decent at Ijutsu, though that’s about it, so I guess medic would be the perfect position for me. Your turn, onii-sama.”

Erwin couldn’t help but cock an inquisitive eyebrow and flash a smile at Chikara’s criminal record joke, she certainly wore her facade well for someone so young, but underneath that childish energetic demeanor was a hardened young woman. A young woman that was damaged by past events to the point of hiding her true self, and her capabilities, from her superiors. That was obvious enough from her answers to his combat experience and group role questions. She lied about her combat capabilities, Ijutsu wasn’t the only thing she was “decent” with. “A whole life” worth of fighting experience as a child does not equate to being only “decent” with Ijutsu, not to mention the profiles he received on each of them. Whether or not this was just a standard self defense mechanism Erwin triggered or something directed specifically towards shinobi or possibly superiors in particular. The motivation she gave was reasonable enough, but it could be just another facade. Either way Erwin could tell that it was going to be rather difficult to get her to open up, perhaps her apparent attachment to Akio would come in handy. ”Fair enough.” He responded before nodding to Akio, at least now he had a name to go by for the squad leader Katashi mentioned, Cole.

”First off, I’m not really sure why you are asking such questions while you have our reports, but I’ll comply for the moment. As for the first question I would prefer to keep my motives for becoming a shinobi to myself. In terms of combat experience I have gotten into a few fights and went on some missions that involved danger of some sort, also I have trained almost everyday I have been a shinobi. I guess I would be the most suited for the squad taijutsu user. As for a name you can call me Akio.”

As should be expected of the more senior student Akio was keen enough to realize that Erwin had no need to question them on their capabilities because he had access to their individual information, but Erwin’s goal wasn’t to learn their skillsets. Erwin was more interested with their reactions to his questions then the information itself, it gave him a glimpse of their true natures whether or not they wanted to. A good officer must be able to read his soldiers, ignoring the simplest of tells can potentially destabilize an entire unit. While Akio didn’t outright deny answering Erwin’s question of motivation his resistance was still suspect. He was either too embarrassed to tell the truth, which was highly doubtful; enjoyed pushing his bounds with his superiors, a more plausible reason but nonetheless not that likely; or the subject matter was deeply personal to him and he didn’t want to reveal that information to a man he had just met, even if Erwin was his superior. ”Very well then, I’ll respect your privacy for the time being, as long as the reason doesn’t interfere with our work then there won’t be an issue.” He said in a professional tone, taking a sip of coffee before addressing Akio’s original comment on Erwin’s motives.

”You’re right, I have just about all of the information I need to judge your individual skillsets and where they would best contribute to the group without asking you personally, but a personnel file can only tell you so much. You give more than you may think whenever you answer a question. For instance…” Erwin paused once more to take another sip of coffee before turning to Katashi. ”Katashi, you’re capable of acknowledging what few people your age can, their own shortcomings. A trait that is necessary to better oneself.” He continued in a professional tone, turning to Chikara next. ”Chikara, you’re quite convincing when you downplay your own capabilities. A trait that aides in deception and survival. Had I been a less attentive individual you probably would have succeeded without a hitch.” Erwin paused once more, observing how Chikara reacted to him calling out her combat ability bluff as he took another sip of coffee, maintaining a complimentary tone as he spoke. Now wasn’t the time to confront her about her overall facade. ”And Akio, you’re willing to question a superior officers motives. A trait that may very well save our country from a corrupt officer, or get you killed in an “unfortunate accident” if you’re not careful.” Erwin’s tone switched to match his friendly warning as he addressed Akio.

”While most officers wouldn’t approve of deceptive actions or their subordinates questioning their motives I understand the necessity. Some simply believe that subordinates should follow every order without question, that the chain of command only goes in one direction and everyone below their ”link” has no right to defy or question them, but authority must flow in both directions to root out weak or corrupt ”links” and strengthen the military as a whole. You have the right not to completely trust a man you only just met, even if I am your superior trust should be something earned through action not title. But remember this, not everyone shares my opinion.” Erwin paused momentarily to finish off his coffee while he observed his new students, eyeing each of them briefly before drastically lightening his demeanor with some laughter and continuing. ”I think that’s enough listening to an old man ramble on about martial-political ideals for one day, why don’t we move on to something more exciting? If there’s no objection I’d like to start the physical portion of our meeting.” Erwin motioned to the exit of the restaurant as he spoke. There was a reason he picked this restaurant, they were just down from the training grounds, the perfect place to see the capabilities of his new charges first hand.

Just as Katashi had finished telling his new Sensei about himself, Katashi's delicious smelling food arrived. The fish had been cooked whole, complete with head and eyes, but Katashi generally ignored those and dove straight in. The Miso soup was piping hot, as if it had just recently taken off from a boil. Of course the look or heat of his food didn't bother Katashi as much as the taste. The first bite of the Saury left his mouth rather sad though he supposed it was edible enough for breakfast. His mother never would have let such a dry and bland fish leave the kitchen much less make it to the plate of her son. Of course the only possible way to salvage the meal was to try the Miso soup that had been brought out last.

With a mouthful of the liquid that they called Miso soup would bring tears to his mother's eyes. Not because it was bad but because the complex tastes of the Miso clashed together to bring an amazing taste that would make even the most mild mannered person smack their mother in delight in tasting it. Katashi would have to remember to do that to his mom, if he ever had a death wish that is. Of course all this food eating would not distract him from listening to his new, and old, teammates from introducing themselves. The one he listened to especially was Chikara Shurajo, his former teammate. He had lost contact after their old squad was disbanded and he was curious as to what she had been up to. Of course she would not reveal too much information which was curious to Katashi. He didn't see a problem with telling his life story to their new Sensei though there was the likelihood that she had experienced something he had not and that was the reason behind. Nah that couldn't be it.

Of course after Chikara spoke the guy wearing the Chunin vest started. Immediately afterwards Katashi felt himself disliking this new teammate immensely. The rudeness was real, or at least it was to Katashi. For some reason, to Katashi, it felt like the Chunin thought he was superior to the group because he was a higher rank and gone on a few missions. 'Comply for the moment. It's people like you that makes everyone looks down on Kirigakure,' scoffed Katashi in his mind as he listened to the Chunin speak. He didn't know what it was about people and them being rude when simple, and straightforward questions were asked. The questions asked by their Sensei were rather straightforward and deserved a straightforward answer without all the eye rolling and the scoffing. But of course, Katashi kept his mouth closed though he couldn't help but send rather simple glare at the Chunin as he spoke. But then he went back to his mostly delicious food, with the bad taste of the Saury masked by the Miso soup, and the green tea, that also cooled his mouth from the soup.

But then the voice of his Sensei cut through the silence. It didn't seem his Sensei was upset over the rudeness of the Chunin but had adopted the professional tone he had chosen to use earlier. The talk about privacy and such made Katashi to sigh within his head as he listened intently, in between slurps of the soup. As soon as his name was mentioned he lowered the bowl from his face as he listened to his sensei give him a compliment. 'Able to understand my shortcomings,' he thought as he listened. 'I just thought I was being honest.' Despite that he gave his Sensei his best smile as he nodded his head in thanks. He immediately went back to drinking the delicious broth that was his breakfast. Of course in doing this he would miss both of the reactions of his teammates by the rest of his Sensei's statements about what he learned from the questions. Didn't mean he would miss out on hearing their Sensei chastise the higher ranked member of the squad. Of course, the mention of an unfortunate accident made Katashi do a double take in his mind. Did he just hear his Sensei threaten to off a member of his squad for trying to deceive them? No it couldn't be. Not possible. But it was Kirigakure that was known as the Bloody Mist village over a hundred years ago. Maybe someone was trying to bring that back. That was when he realized he had finished his bowl of soup and absolutely stuffed to the brim. His eyeballs were floating in broth and fish meat.

At the mention of going to the training grounds, Katashi was the first to to stand up from the table. Of course that also led into a long stretch that resulted in the increased blood flow making him feel marvelous on the inside. A groan and a half later, with a smile still on his face, he lowered his arms back down to his side as he waited for the rest of his squad to also stand, and to let him out, before he would speak.

"So, Sensei, what's the plan for the training ground? Or is it a secret?"

Chikara Shurajo

The Crimson Princess

“Really?” Chikara said as she nonchalantly tapped her chin with her index finger whilst looking up at the ceiling. She seemed surprisingly calm for somebody who just got caught lying, not flustered in the slightest nor rushing to explain why she had lied. No, she remained calm, something that she didn’t need to force herself to do, but underneath that calm demeanor was a mind that was shooting off multiple questions. The voice of Haruna, the voice that seemed to only pop into her head to help her assess what she had done wrong, was loud within her head. She was firing off questions in rapid succession, leaving little time for Chikara to silently answer them. Instead of telling the voice within her head to shut up so that she may think, she tuned the voice out, deciding that she would go over what she had done wrong on her own.

How did he notice? By his own words, the man that would be serving as her sensei, no matter how temporary that would be, was an attentive person. Yet, she doubt that there had been something in her expression that had given her away, so it had to be what had flowed from her mouth. What was it? Chikara quickly reviewed what she had told the man, combing over every detail for any and all clues that had made her lie obvious. After a couple moments thinking about that, her mind honed in on one glaring detail that had messed up the entire lie. She had said that she had a lifetime worth of fighting experience yet had stated that she was decent at Ijutsu. Contradiction. Indeed, that was a contradiction, a glaring mistake on her part and one she would not make again.

Now knowing how Erwin knew she had been lying, her full attention was returned to the group. She briefly went over what she had missed whilst she was assessing her mistake, albeit she definitely hadn’t caught all of it. It didn’t matter much anyways, talking seemed to be done and it seemed that they would be moving along to something more physical. She rose from her seat, eyes sweeping over the area before would exit the establishment behind Akio. All the while wondering how things shall go, with a smile upon her face.

A soft smile pulled at Akio's lips as his new Sensei agreed to let him keep his privacy. Although the smile held a sense of wickedness it was unintentional, however it did make the Chunin seem as if he was hiding something. When Akio was finished to his surprise the Sensei explained himself, something Akio was not prepared for seeing as the man didn't have to do no such thing. Raising his brow Akio was quite curious as to just how observation this man was. Again the Chunin was surprised to hear what the older shinobi had gathered. Specifically about Chikara while Akio didn't listen much to her answer to their Sensei he didn't even notice her lies, however the boy didn't need to he already knew more then enough about her. However a little bit more could be added.

Shrugging off the words of his Sensei the Chunin was glad to hear they would be making there way to the training grounds. However the smile on the blue haired male's face quickly turned into a piercing glare toward his male comrade as he noticed the look he was receiving. The Chunin would have said something if the group hadn't have been mobilizing. Pushing the younger male from his mind Akio stood up and headed out the door of the restaurant. As he stepped onto the dirt clearing Akio sighed as he heard the same boy ask the Sensei what they were doing. 'Couldn't this boy not wait to be told the exercise?' Akio asked himself before looking over the group. First at Katashi, then Chikara and then finally resting his one golden hue on the older man.

'Just what could this man be testing us on today?' Akio thought as he looked the man up and down. While the man looked old he still seemed to retain his strength over the years, however this would come at a price of some sort. Even though Akio didn't know what the price was he was guessing it would be speed. Something the Kaguya boy had focused his whole fighting style on. Hopefully if the Sensei would pit any or all of them against himself Akio's guess would be right. It would make this exercise so much quicker. Then again Akio knew he shouldn't take this man lightly. The Chunin had no more information then that the man was at least a Jounin, a title that should not be taken lightly in the least. Never the less Akio cleared his mind of such thought and focused back on the exercise itself. Most likely the Sensei wouldn't even get involved with his students. Surely he would wait to see what they were all capable of in the first place before challenging them to battle, be it a spar or not. Although if the man demanded such a thing Akio would not hesitate to engage him, however the boy would be sure to exercise caution in such a battle.

Katashi seemed to be rather taken with his meal, which was all well and good but paying too much attention to one’s meal isn’t the safest way to eat. Not that they were in any danger there, most of the patrons that visited Bloody Food were military, and they had Erwin watching over them to boot, it was just the principle of the matter. Regardless he seemed to be paying enough attention to to glare at Akio as the Chuunin made his disapproval for Erwin’s questions apparent, and notice the comment about his answers. Erwin could only wonder if he actually had selective hearing or simply acted like he was distracted by the food. “Really?” The only female of the squad managed to stay rather calm for someone who was called out on their lie, far more than Erwin expected for someone her age, which was a good sign to him. Rushing to explain something only further cements the fact that you lied, if it turned out to be a bluff and the person that called you out didn’t know if you lied before would certainly know then, however Chikara could do with some training in hiding her reactions.

Looking away from the person you’re talking to is an obvious tell, people also tend to look up while thinking of a lie and down when they’re trying to remember the truth. The tapping of one’s finger could also be discerned as a tell, but what it’s telling varies from person to person. Either way she didn’t have anything to say after that, leading Erwin to believe she was simply trying to figure out how he caught on to her. As for the Chuunin’s response to his comment about respecting privacy Erwin noticed a faint sinister look behind Akio’s smile, whether this was intentional or not he didn’t know, but if it was unintentional that could speak of subconscious instability. If being a Kaguya wasn’t enough Erwin certainly had a reason to keep an eye on Akio now. Nonetheless the time was upon them to move on to mistier pastures, which none of them seemed opposed to. Even though he was the only one to order a meal Katashi was the first to stand, the kid could certainly eat quickly, but it seemed the rather excessive speed got to him a little when he stretched and groaned a little. Ahh to be a kid again.

Erwin would be the next to stand, pulling his wallet from an inner pocket of his officer’s jacket and placing a rather generous tip in the center of the table and placed his wallet in his right pant pocket before folding his white trench coat over his left arm. ”I’ll just be a moment.” He said as he made his way towards the man behind the back counter. ”Want me to just add it to your tab?” The rather grisly looking man behind the counter asked in an unbefitting friendly tone. ”If you don’t mind, I’d also like to leave my jackets here while I’m in the training grounds.” ”Sure thing Erwin, give em hell.” The two men shared a brief laugh before Erwin handed over his white trench coat. He then unfastened his officers jacket, slipped it off of his shoulders, and folded it nicely before handing that over as well. Even though the people working at Bloody Food were but a sparse few that he trusted with his clothing there was nothing in the pockets of either jacket to actually steal.

Now that Erwin was free to move his arms comfortably the veritable arsenal he came equipped with was visible to all. Only his flak jacket and the black tight fitting short sleeve undershirt masked his muscular figure, and on this flak jacket were two sets of five kunai holsters mid abdomen level. There were also a couple of pouches on his waist holding various utilities as well as another five kunai holster on his right hip. Combine it all with the two blades hanging from his left waist and the man looked like he was ready to go to war, but he still maintained the friendly and professional demeanor he used while talking to his new students. ”Shall we?” Erwin said politely as he moved towards the exit, allowing his students to exit first before leading them just down the road to the Bloody Mist Training Grounds. ”So, Sensei, what’s the plan for the training ground? Or is it a secret?” He was certain all of them were curious about his plans but Katashi seemed to be the only one willing to voice this curiosity.

”Somewhat. I can tell you that It’ll be slightly team oriented, but the rest will have to wait.” He replied politely as they neared the entrance to the training grounds. Once they passed through the main entrance of the training grounds Erwin lead his students to the opposite end. An attentive person would notice that only the sound of a distant few practicing shinobi was present, with good reason. Erwin had reserved the central portion of the training grounds for his “examination”, giving them plenty of room should things get heated, and he was hoping they would so he could see their skills in action. Upon reaction the far end of the training grounds Erwin paused for a moment, grabbing a couple of small items out of a waist pouch with his left hand, arranged them in his hand with his back turned to his students, and covered part of them with his right hand as if he was holding his hands together after clapping before turning to his students. As he turned around it would become apparent to his students that they would be playing an old game of chance, drawing straws.

”Alright, I’d like each of you to take one, starting with Katashi and ending with Akio.” Erwin held out his hands, the three straws sandwiched between his palms. The one closest to him was the long straw, both the middle and the furthest were slightly shorter, but his students had no way of knowing which was which. After offering the straws to each student he would then pull out three items from one of his larger waist pouches, a blindfold, a pair of handcuffs, and a pair of ankle cuffs that were just long enough to prevent the wearer from running. ”I’m going to be replicating a prisoner transport mission, the bearer of the long straw will be the prisoner, the other two will be tasked to guard this prisoner and escort them to the entrance of the training ground. Imagine you’re deep in enemy territory, you just apprehended a fugitive wanted for questioning. The possibility of enemy sensors is high but your presence is masked by your equipment as long as you don’t use chakra.”

Erwin’s tone was nothing but professional as he spoke, dropping the polite portion of his demeanor. ”As the prisoner you are wanted by both our village and the enemy’s, the only difference is the enemy village has a kill order out on you and you know it. The two guards will be judged by how effectively they can transport the prisoner, while the prisoner will be judged by their ability to escape. As the guards you will need to search the prisoner and confiscate their weapons, you can decide who gets to carry what. Any questions?” As he spoke Erwin held out the blindfold and the two restraints for the guards to take. In truth this exercise wasn’t just about each team member’s ability to play their designated role, but their ability to adapt to potentially unwinnable situations. Since he was going to be playing the “unknown” portion of the mission he could only hope they would be able to figure that out on their own. An ideal result would be the teaming up of the prisoner and the guards to survive an enemy that wanted them both dead, but the ideal wasn’t usually the result.

The piercing glare he received from the Chunin sealed his own fate.  Katashi would now try to embarass and humiliate the Chunin at every turn.  He didn't know why but the Chunin irked him in ways he didn't even think was possible.  Of course he would have to start immediately with this first training session.  Which was going to be difficult, due to him being Chunin and Katashi lacking any true offensive techs other than the ability to fight with his fists or swords.  Of course in his effort to seem disinterested with the rest of the group, he was continuously listening to the conversation between the Sensei and Chikara.  Which involved Chikara being called out on a lie and her playing it off.

Then his train of thought was interrupted by the his Sensei revealing what he looked like underneath the heavy jackets he wore.  Much to Katashi's joy, he saw that it seemed his Sensei preferred weapons.  Looked like fifteen kunai pouches as well as many more miscellaneous pouches about his person.  With just a glance at the arsenal, Katashi could tell that the placement of the pouches would make his Sensei a deadly opponent at close or long range. Then his eyes fell to the blades that rested on the Jounin's hip.  Training was going to be fun for Katashi.

Of course Katashi continued admire the weapons the Sensei possessed as they made their way to the training grounds.  Then he noticed the mist.  It was going to be harder than he though.  The mist would make any acts he would commit against his Chunin teammate harder to accomplish while also helping him maintain his secrecy.  And then he noticed his Sensei holding a handful of straws that he could only guess was the game that ruined his childhood.  He had never won a game of drawing straws once and it usually involved him getting the worst chores and always being it in other games.  And of course it was just his luck that he would be the one to pick first.  The best person to pick straws was indeed the first, higher chance of getting a short straw while least getting the longest.  But Katashi was incredibly unlucky, which was evident as he pulled the straw closest to the Jounin.  As he pulled, it felt like time was passing so slowly, or that he was pulling slowly.  He didn't know which.  And then it pulled free of the hand and revealed the elongated tube to the rest of the squad.  Clearly the mile long piece of plastic meant that he was going to have the shitty role.  Once again.

As Katashi listened to the explanation of the scenario he could only think of one thing.  Why would he run from two groups of people if he could use the one group to fight the other.

"Sure do, Sensei.  Are you going to be playing the enemy village?"

If his guess was correct he would have to come up with a plan that would revolve around pitting the two groups against each other.  If he was wrong, he would need to come up with a plan that would allow him to break free and escape from custody.  Of course he would need to do it without attracting attention.  That right.  'That's how I will do it.  Of course, a few things will need to happen for that plan to work.

With a smile, he offered his wrists in front of him to his 'captors'.

Chikara Shurajo

The Crimson Princess

Drawing the straw that made her a transporter, and having heard the instructions from Erwin, Chikara left the side of Akio to stand in front of Katashi, uncomfortably close may she add. Her eyes swept over the taller boy, attempting to determine rather or not he had weapons on him, though a thorough frisking would do well to turn up any weapons he may have on him. Yet, as she examined the boy, she wasn’t just looking for anything that looked like a weapon, for she had seen plenty of people murdered with the most unconventional things. She had bared witness to such murders, which had been done during her days as a child soldier, yet nobody did it as beautifully as Haruna Oshiro. She was learning how to replicate what the Oshiro had learned, but something told her that she would never be able to do it like Haruna. Yet that didn’t matter at the moment, what did matter was making sure the target hadn’t a single thing that could be used as a weapon, which she knew was unrealistic in a sense.

Chikara sighed deeply, eyes glancing at Akio before glancing at Erwin, removing the shackles from his possession before looking at Akio once again. Throughout her entire assessment, she hadn’t quite noticed that Katashi had been far too willing to have the cuffs on him, but she had done well to take note of it the second time she looked at him. Her head would cock to the side, faint curiosity twinkling in her eyes though she didn’t say a single word. Instead, she thought about what Akio and her should do, for she really didn’t know what the Kaguya was capable of. They last time they had done anything that required fighting, the Kaguya had been put out of commission by an unidentified poison, which had left her the sole person to take down some unruly Genin. She wasn’t going to complain much about having been left alone to fend for the both of them, for she did succeed and she did managed to kill three of the four Genin that she had encountered, though she wished she could had had the chance of wringing the puppeteer’s neck. She would had definitely went on a search for the survivor, but she had a teammate who required medical attention and thus put his health of whatever she had desired to do with the puppeteer.

“Onii-sama, do check Katashi-san for anything that can be used as a weapon,” Chikara said, snapping herself out of her reveries as her eyes drifted over to Akio. She smiled at him, tossing the shackles from her left hand to her right, quite ready to proceed with the task given to them by Erwin. A task that may be a hassle since molding any sort of chakra would broadcast their location to a nonexistent enemy, but an enemy nonetheless. She could rely on simply physically restraining Katashi if he chose to make a break for it, for she was stronger than she looked, but she didn’t know the extent of his strength. She quickly took a look of the shackles, cuffs, whatever you want to call them, assessing the strength that would be required to break them. Though she could only look, for she feared that testing the strength may cause the restraints to break, and she didn’t want that.

She sighed deeply, looking back at Katashi as she came to the conclusion that formulating a plan ahead of time was pointless. So, she decided that she would wait for Akio to frisk the boy before she would slap the restraints upon him, which included the handcuffs, ankle cuffs, and lastly the blindfold. If Akio had confiscated some weapons from Katashi, she would motion for him to hand her a Kunai, just in case the boy managed to escape and she decides to throw caution to the wind. Once that had been done, she would move to the left side of Katashi, eyes back on Erwin, awaiting for him to say that it was okay to begin the examination.

Akio simply remained quiet as the rest of his squad did the same. All the while their sensei going over his training exercise. Which to Akio's surprise was rather interesting compared to most exercise. Two of the squad members were to escort a prisoner, which would be the third member of the squad. All the while they would need to defend against an attacking enemy, which the Chunin assumed would be none other then their Sensei. Judging from the look of the man after he had removed his jacket Akio had noticed he was correct about the man still being in his prime physically. However that was of no matter as the straws were passed around the group. Katashi would take the first and longest before Chikara would select one of the two smaller ones, leaving only the last shorter one for Akio. Since he noticed the size of the other's straws he didn't bother to pull his from the older man's hand as his eyes fell on Chikara.

The innocent girl that he called a teammate seemed to be examining the other male of their squad, for an uncomfortable amount of time before snapping out of here trance like state. Continuing to watch the display that Chikara was exhibiting Akio was a bit worried about the young lady. She seemed to be acting rather strange in Akio's opinion, weather this was because of the odd task they were given or that she was just off her game the blue haired male was not sure and frankly didn't have the patience to figure it out. All the Chunin wanted right now was to just get down to the exercise and get some well needed training. Glancing back over to Chikara the boy was a bit confused why she wasn't restraining Katashi until she mentioned searching him for weapons. Honestly Akio could care less if the Genin had his tools, but seeing as it would make his job so much easier he complied.

Walking up to the mail he quickly removed the tools from visible pouches before doing a more thorough search of his body. After he was content the Chunin cracked another wicked grin as he collected all of the tools he had retrieved, which included a few kunai and shuriken, along with bomb tags, a katana and finally a scroll. While it seemed he had found all of the Genin's items the Chunin had overlooked the shinobi's collection of smoke bombs, something that could prove to cause a problem if used right. Once he had laid the tools out the Chunin removed the scroll that was drapped over his shoulder and hung just above his waste. Unraveling the large scroll Akio used one of the kunai to cut a straight slash across his palm to draw blood. Quickly drawing a few kanji on the parchment of the scroll Akio. Finally as he finished drawing the various symbols the vast assortment of shinobi tools had seemingly disappeared as they were sealed into the scroll. Rapping the scroll back up Akio threw the strap over his shoulder as he flashed his snake-like smile back at Katashi before turning to Chikara

Watching as the heavy chains were thrown on Katashi's limb's Akio nodded to Chikara before pivoting to face their Sensei. "Let's get on with this already." The Chunin exclaimed with a cocky tone in his voice as he was excited to be able to test the strength of not only his new squamate, but his Sensei as well. His face still head the wicked smile that pulled at his lips and showed nothing but bad intentions even though it was more of a look that conveyed a hint of cockiness rather then revealing that the Chunin was plotting something devious. If Akio's thoughts were right him and Chikara would be able to handle both their Sensei and keeping Katashi in check to be considered as passing the exercise.

It seemed Katashi would be playing prisoner for this exercise, that meant Erwin would have a chance to observe how Akio and Chikara work together, their former partnership should give them an advantage. ”Sure do, Sensei. Are you going to be playing the enemy village?” Erwin peaked an eyebrow towards his inquisitive student, a valid question indeed, and one he hoped one of them would be curious enough to ask. ”Actually, no. I’d tell you what I’ll be doing but that would ruin the surprise.” He said in a somewhat lighthearted but truly sincere tone. Even if one of them were capable of noticing someone as experienced as him was lying or telling the truth it wouldn't matter, he was technically telling the truth. Now if Katashi had asked whether or not Erwin would be playing the role of an attacker then it would be a lie, but in truth he wasn't playing the role of the opposing village he was playing the role of the “unknown”, which more specifically was the chance of leaked intel and a third party. He would be playing the role of a hired hitman sent to kill the captured criminal and his captors before said criminal has the chance to spill leak information incriminating a corrupt official within Kirigakure.

Surprisingly Katashi seemed rather willing to be the prisoner, but to Erwin his smile meant the gears were already turning. He was curious to see what plans the young swordsman had in mind, but all in due time. As for Akio and Chikara they were both doing a good job of sizing up and searching their prisoner. Chikara didn't seem to be looking for weapons in the normal sense of the word but anything and everything that could be used as a weapon, something that gave hope to Erwin about his student’s capabilities. Shinobi are soldiers trained to kill in order to protect their country and their city, a skilled soldier can use just about anything to kill someone, something the young woman seemed familiar with. With a deep sigh and a few glances towards Akio and himself Erwin couldn't help but wonder what was going on inside Chikara’s mind as she took the restraints from him. Out of the three of them Chikara was the most mysterious, although Akio was a close second, something told him that despite how suspicious her actions have been so far things were likely far more complicated than they appeared. ”Onii-sama, do check Katashi-san for anything that can be used as a weapon.”

Erwin found it odd that Akio only went to search Katashi after Chikara had mentioned it, he had ample time beforehand to help her, perhaps the Chuunin was lost in thought or thinking up a strategy for the exercise. Regardless, Chikara’s comment brought him back to the task at hand and Akio did a thorough job of confiscating Katashi’s equipment, and for an added point sealed the items within a scroll for easier transport and to make it harder for Katashi to get back should he escape. However, Erwin couldn’t help but wonder if the cut Akio made on his palm would come into play later in the exercise. Once Akio had finished sealing Katashi’s equipment Chikara placed Katashi in the restraints Erwin had provided, finishing with the blindfold. "Let's get on with this already." Akio’s impatient remark and cocky tone made Erwin smile inwardly, despite the Chuunin’s previous disdain for being here Erwin could tell he was more excited about the exercise than he let on, although the faintly wicked smile made it pretty obvious. He was eager to see what the Chuunin had planned.

”Patience, you wouldn’t want to rush off into the unknown without a plan of action.” Erwin spoke in a polite but professional tone as he started walking around his students clockwise. ”You’ll have a minute to talk amongst yourselves once I’m out of sight, then you can consider this test officially underway.” Erwin strolled past his charges as he addressed them, gradually disappearing into the mist in a direction just to the left of a straight path back towards the entrance of the training grounds, but the sound of his steps faded more quickly than they normally would. Erwin would be listening and watching them from the mist, or more specifically their faint outlines that lay on the very border of his visibility, remaining utterly silent while he exercised the two of his most cherished senses as a master swordsman while suppressing his presence. It was highly unlikely that any of them possessed the trained vision to see Erwin from that distance, but if they were smart they would keep their voices low just in case. So many possible outcomes, Erwin himself couldn’t help but feel excited about the test as well.

'Fun times,' thought Katashi as he felt the cold steel restraints being slapped onto his wrists. Just as she was closing the cold metal over his wrists his right leg gave up and he fell forward, shoving the handcuff further up his wrist than probably planned before he was able to right himself. If the plan worked, the cuff should be open enough to fit over his wrist, with a dislocated thumb of course, if not, then he probably made his genin 'opponent' frustrated with his 'clumsiness'. Of course he wasn't worried about that as much as the fact all of his weapons, save the smoke bombs, were sealed into a scroll owned by Akio. Without a second though, he pulled the scarf from around his neck and offered it to the Kaguya to bind the wound that was now on his hand. He may be the prisoner but that didn't mean he had to be a dick to his captors.

A then the blindfold was wrapped around his face and tied. Now blind save for a sliver of light at the corners of his nose, he was almost completely helpless. He wasn't one for blind fighting but he had a rough estimation of where his captors were located. For some reason he was always good at telling where people were at. But as a blind man shackled and cuffed, he would have time to think of a plan of escape before the test was over.

His hip felt heavy so he knew at least the smoke bombs were there. Those would be useful as a distraction should he need one. Or as a weapon. He wondering if a smoke bomb going off in someone's face would be particularly harmful. He would find out soon, once the test was underway.

Of course, with his vision gone his other senses would be heightened as he heard their new sensei retreat off towards the entrance to the training grounds leaving the squad to talk amongst themselves for a plan of action. Of course Katashi was already implementing his plan of defense.

"You gotta get me out of here," he said with a loud tone. "They are going to kill me. If we don't hurry you will lose your lives and all the information I have on your enemy." His voice was loud enough that would carry but quiet enough that it wouldn't be shouting. Technically.

Chikara Shurajo

The Crimson Princess

One minute to talk amongst themselves, plenty of time to formulate a plan, but not a good idea to announce their intentions to Katashi. She didn’t believe he was one to be easily frightened, and he would most definitely use their plan against them, but the good thing about being on the same team as Akio was that talking wasn’t necessary. Despite having been partners for a short amount of time, communicating through body language as well as comprehending was something the both of them should had learned during their short tenure under Hakai. And thusly so, when she pointed at the scarf the Kaguya had in his hand, he should know that Chikara had every intentions of strangling the loud boy with it. Now rather or not he would give it to her was an entirely different thing, for he knew full well that if not kept in check, that she would accidently murder the older Genin. At least she would have, but she had more self- restraint compared to the last time the two had fought alongside one another. Today there would be no head bashing, neck snapping, poisoning, or the breaking of bones. There would simply be a warning, which would come in the form of his scarf wrapped around his neck for a couple seconds as she pulled with only a fraction of her strength, or if Akio decided to not hand over the scarf, a simple blow to the gut, either by fist or by foot.

Either way, this group wouldn’t be proceeding anywhere until Katashi closed his mouth. Which may not bode well for them, but having him speak so loudly and so obnoxiously didn’t bode well either. And though Katashi may from this point onwards be her teammate, that didn’t mean she would restrain herself from severely harming him. So, with her actions dealt with, which entirely depends on rather or not Akio handed over the scarf, she would turn to the Chunin, cocking her head to the side. Of course, due to her actions, her position would had changed from being on Katashi’s left to behind him, if she strangled him, or directly in front of him, if she decided to utilize her limbs. Now rather or not her position would matter in the end remained to be seen, but for the moment the Shurajo was only concerned with getting the test over with as quickly as possible.

Watching the odd way the boy pushed himself into the cuffs Akio raised a brow as he glanced over at Chikara with the same questionable look. However shrugging any thoughts out of his mind the blue haired shinobi turned just in time to notice the silhouette of the squads Sensei. Soon enough Chikara would wrap the blindfold over Katashi's eyes and then suddenly the boy began to scream and howler. Which Akio full knew would be the worst thing he could have done.

Akio rolled his eyes as he quickly became annoyed with the males voice. He would have done something to shut the Genin up, but Chikara would prove to be just as much annoyed as he was. Once she pointed to the scarf that Katashi was simply offering to him the familiar wicked grin would trace Akio's lips as he quickly snapped his hand to the piece of cloth, grasping one of the exposed corners between his thumb and pinkie he would then snap his wrist back just a quickly before turning to face his long time partner. Extending his arm toward Chikara the Chunin was still holding it awkwardly between his pinkie and thumb. If he guessed right and Chikara were to accept the scarf from his grip the Chunin would simply watch what she had in mind. However if she didn't Akio would simply toss the scarf back at Katashi and proceed with the mission.

As what would happen between Chikara and Katashi the Kaguya wouldn't only listen to the event, but he would keep his head on the swivel to make sure whatever their Sensei had planned didn't catch them or at least him off guard. The only thing Akio had to worry about for the time being was keeping Chikara in check, while he didn't mind her getting violent he definitely couldn't have here losing her cool and going into a rampage again. After all even though he didn't really care much for Katashi he certainly couldn't have there squad being one member short and they would have to deal with Chikara most likely being decommissioned and perhaps even executed.

Quickly clearing his mind of such thought Akio kept his eyes fixed on where the older man's outline had vanished as he heard the last few footsteps fade into the infamous mist that Kirigakure was so well known for. Something that could be both a benefit and hindrance of any shinobi that were to catch themselves in such a situation that the squad was put into at this very moment. However if they couldn't see their Sensei that meant the same for the old man as long as they were surrounded by the thick mist.

"You gotta get me out of here! They are going to kill me. If we don't hurry you will lose your lives and all the information I have on your enemy." Not even a minute in and Katashi had already revealed part of his hand. Deliberately speaking loudly would be an efficient way of alerting nearby forces, if they attack one's captors it would make it that much easier to slip away in the confusion. The only issue with that is the lack of knowledge concerning the enemies numbers, with a large enough squad it'd be easy for them to take out the escorts and handle the prisoner at the same time sealing both of their fates. A double-edged sword, so to speak, but in some circumstances that’s the only choice you have. Erwin would have acted on this opportunity but his allotted time had yet to end, besides, he was curious to see how Akio and Chikara responded. He wanted a better view than extremely faint outlines in the mist but as part of the test Erwin wasn’t going to activate his sensory capabilities until the full minute was up, until then outlines and audible actions would have to suffice, which given the city were usually all one had.

Chikara’s reaction to Katashi’s pleas for help would have been surprising had Erwin not noticed her facade the moment she entered the restaurant earlier, although choosing to strangle the prisoner with their own scarf instead of a simply muzzling them with it or delivering a blow to the gut to knock the wind out of them seemed a little odd to him. A mild strangling was far more personal than the latter two, it also revealed far darker undertones in her true personality, a potentially troubling trait. While observing their actions Erwin silently walked clockwise around the three students, maintaining the same distance from the group as he positioned himself roughly one-hundred and twenty degrees to the right of a direct path to the exit from the position of his students, which put him slightly further from the exit than them. Another interesting fact was that Akio was the enabler, offering Chikara Katashi’s scarf and doing nothing while she strangled him with it, she didn’t even have to verbally ask. Apart from the obvious negative things this revealed it did show that the two of them could read each other quite well and work silently, which was important in their line of work.

He doubted Chikara would snap and actually attempt to strangle Katashi to death but just in case Erwin was prepared to intervene, mentally counting down the time it takes for the average person to fall unconscious. Should Chikara come close to that time and show no intent on stopping once Katashi fully understood the term “silence is golden” he would be forced to step in, but until then the test would go on as planned. Hopefully as a Chuunin Akio would also take responsibility and make sure Chikara didn’t go too far, even if he was the one that allowed her to do so in the beginning. As long as everything went as planned once their minute was up Erwin would maintain his position in relevance to their formation, utilizing his excellent hearing and what little visibility he had to follow them until such a time he deemed opportune to attack, providing they actually started moving towards the goal of the exercise and he didn’t need to stop a little girl from choking a boy to death.

She had lost count of how long the scarf was wrapped around the neck of Katashi, but it had to be a while if the boy was gasping and sputtering for air, clawing at the fabric in a futile attempt to remove the item that prevented him from breathing. Despite the fact that the boy clearly needed to breath, Chikara wasn’t letting up, instead she tighten the fabric around his neck. For a flitting moment the Shurajo thought about strangling the boy to death, and she may very well had done so if she were not in the company of her sensei and teammate, both who would definitely pull her off the boy. Though, she wondered how long it would take them to act against the threat she posed on the boy’s life, and wanting to know the answer, continued to strangle him despite knowing that he couldn’t take anymore.

She would wait for either Akio or Erwin to stop her. If they didn’t, well they wouldn’t have to worry about a test, nor would the actually have to worry about a sudden death. She wouldn’t kill Katashi; she had enough self restraint not to, simply allow him to pass out, thus making the entire test a walk in the park. That’s, if one didn’t consider the unknown threat Erwin posed in the test.

Having watched his Sensei disappear into the mist Akio turned to face his two teammate, mainly focusing on Chikara as she began to strangle the young silver haired male that was now a part of their team. The Kaguya would wait a moment until the boy was clawing for air before he would even think of telling Chikara to stop. However he would let another few seconds go by as a wide grin crossed his face, not one of malice though this time it held a sense of happiness and enjoyment. Then as he sighed he turned back to face where he expected Erwin to be. "That's enough Chikara...I would like to see his potential before he dies."

While most would be a bit worried about one of their teammates dying Akio didn't seem to care at all. He actually like when Chikara got this way. It seemed to make him excited, something that was very rare to invoke in the boy without a fight of some sort. Although the Chunin would like to see if the male Genin was hiding anything that could peak his interest. If he didn't then he could careless what Chikara did with him...or rather to him, but if he did hold anything interesting in his fighting style Akio would most likely wish to learn it. Forgetting about such things for the moment Akio's face regressed back to it's emotionless look that almost seemed like the boy was tired although he wasn't.

Not relying on Chikara's loyalty to pull her away from the scarf and boy Akio focused in Erwin's supposed location. "Let's get this over with already." He said in a low monotone voice knowing even a Chunin should be able to hear him without having to strain at all. Now Chikara would have to let go of Katashi if she wanted to perform her best. However he also knew she would not 'have' to do so if she was confident in her own skills. Then all the suden the same wicked grin return to Akio's face once more. "Actually...continue with your fun Chikara. Perhaps it could serve some good." Now their Sensei would surely have to engage them if he wanted to save Katashi. Unless the boy were to be able to escape Chikara's grip on his own. If such a thing were to happen though the Kaguya was sure that they would still be able to go on with the test without hurrying Erwin's plans along.
