Konoha Genin

"I promise I won't bite."

Name: Daiki Akimichi
Namesake: Daiki(大樹) means great tree.
Nickname: Little Red Riding Hood, to his chagrin.
Age: 13
Birthday: April 4th
Gender: Male
Village: Konohagakure
Village Rank: Genin
Skill Rank: D

Weight: 143 lbs
Hair color: White
Eye Color: Red
Looks Description: Daiki's most notable feature is the red cloak he wears. Stricken with albinism at birth, he wears this cloak to protect his pale skin from the treacherous light of the sun during the day. His glasses are also a distinguishing trait. He has two different pairs: One for daytime use to reduce the intensity of sunlight and another just to correct his astigmatism otherwise. When he is seen without his cloak, as he often is after sunset or indoors, he has the telltale Akimichi girth that is uncommon in a profession as athletic as that of a ninja. However, he is a bit thinner than one would expect for an Akimichi, in spite of the fact that he does not possess the Akimichi's calorie controlling ninjutsu. While short sleeved shirts and shorts are common among younger shinobi, his unique condition has affected his wardrobe choices. He wears long black pants with a shuriken holster attached to his left leg and a tool pouch on his behind. He wears a long sleeved beige shirt with the Akimichi symbol on the front in red. His face is plump with baby fat and his eyes are a pinkish red as a result of his condition. His hair is white as snow and is a short spiky mess growing out of his scalp. He wears wrappings over his hands and feet along with black shinobi sandals. Since the hood of his cloak often covers his forehead, he wears his red forehead protector as a belt.

Personality Description: Daiki is an introvert. He would be more than happy to spend all day alone training or reading or cooking or gardening. He is not afraid to stand up for himself and is very stubborn however. While he acknowledges them, he refuses to admit his faults. He's not all serious, though he has a snide sense of humor and is very rude. This is due to both teasing from his peers for his weight at an early age and his father unwillingness to support his botany or cooking. While his initial interest in cooking was his love of eating, these factors have helped influence how he cooks. He has grown to only have a taste for carbohydrate rich foods, such as wheat products and and sugary foods. He specializes in pastry cooking. However, he also has a great interest in herbs and health food. He prefers foods that can help another shinobi by energizing them. Due to the energy it requires to digest, the conditions they are raised in and his inability to do it himself, he hates meat, except for fish. While food is important to him, so is recognition and progressiveness. He is a cynic at heart and is quick to complain.
Likes: Reading, botany, and cooking.
Dislikes: Meat, other people's food, and rudeness.
Catch Phrases: "Let's get cooking," "Out of the frying pan (and into the fire)," "How delicious."
Nindo: "Don't get swallowed up."

History: Daiki was born in Konohagakure, in exchange for his own mother's life, due to complications during his birth. The militant Daichi Akimichi was left to raise his son without the support of his much more even tempered spouse, Aika. Her death left the family unbalanced and fed into Daichi's own insecurities about the independence of others and his responsibility to others. He could only hope that his son grew up to be the stoic, strong man he viewed himself as. He feared that Daiki would grow up with the same spiritual weakness he perceived in Aika. Daiki's albinism was a confirmation of his fears in his eyes.

Daiki was a very sensitive child. He was often teased for his weight by other children and though he tried to shrug it off and play it cool, it cut him deeply. Eating was how he coped, which complemented the Akimichi lifestyle. He loved food. He especially loved sweets. He would always beg for them though his father insisted that they were once in a while treats or that he would have to wait until it was more convenient to go out for a treat. He would also often ask his father to prepare certain meals, meriting similar responses. He eventually decided that in order to get what he wanted, he had to do it all himself. He knew that they had the ingredients. His first attempts were messes for his father to clean up, which shaped Daichi's opinion of his son's cooking ability. Still, Daiki was undeterred. He was desperate to learn and would seek out advice and cookbooks. Soon, he could prepare simple dishes. His excitement at his accomplishments caused him to make a decision: Daiki Akimichi would be a chef. His father was not thrilled about his son's ambition. He should have been more focused on his training after all.

Daiki didn't care about his father's opinion, creating a rift between them. His interest in cooking was a gateway. It began with his desire to cook anything he wanted. He learned how plants were grown and animals were raised. As he learned more about plants, he learned how food nourished the body and how the body worked. All of this knowledge affected how he viewed and cooked food. By the time he had become a Genin, he cooked specifically to nourish his body to fight better and he was incredibly focused on his training. While his father was satisfied, Daiki's ambition had not been doused. To this day, he uses money earned from missions to support his cooking while using his cooking to support his combat. Though he takes great pride in being a shinobi, nothing is more important to him than cooking and nothing will change this.

A frown grew across the cloaked shinobi's face. Pests. Pests were attacking his garden. His sugar cane. His wheat stalks. Everything was being ravaged and he felt powerless to stop this assault. It seemed like any pesticide he used was only a temporary solution before the inevitable happened. He groaned and sighed as he rose from his crouched position and stood up. What was he going to do? He didn't really use his own stock to cook anyway. He always used store bought goods. He wanted to eventually use  the plants in his garden though. It represented his dream of being a chef. This was a dream that he wouldn't let the shinobi world swallow up and dissolve. He stared at the stalks, as if he could communicate with the plants if he just listened hard enough or if he waited for a sign. All the while, he was thinking of a plan. If only he was different. If he was an Aburame, he wouldn't even be able to imagine this problem. An Aburame with a bug problem? It was too ironic to be true. Or if he was a Nara, he would have access to their stock hold of chemicals. They just had to have something for this kind of thing. Even if they didn't, it wasn't outside of their capabilities to quash such a small problem like fending of a small area of land from insects. They were geniuses. The Akimichi just consumed and destroyed. Daiki's face began to burn with frustration as he thought of his father. That man was never any help. He wished that there was some action he could take that could instantly heal his garden or teach his father a lesson. He felt like he had to do something. Kicking a clod of dirt into the air was the best he could think of but that wasn't helping anyone. Still, he continued, kicking harder as more dirt became exposed, as if his sheer effort would solve all of his problem before calming down a bit. Maybe he would visit the Nara. They were close allies of the Akimichi for as long as Konohagakure had existed. Maybe it wasn't a hopeless desire. For now, he could only dream. He began to walk towards his destination. No matter what happened, he was going to get what he wanted. He was sure of it.
