While freedom, openness and choice is a staple here, it is an unavoidable fact that throughout the series of Naruto, characters have constantly been labeled as 'types' which are specialized at doing a certain thing.

Types then would refer to a specific skill or art a character is proficient at - in this case, Ninjutsu\Genjutsu or Taijutsu/Bukijutsu, etc etc.

Establishing what Type your character will be is important because it will directly determine what they can and can't achieve within those specific fields. Types are meant not only to balance the system and keep everyone at equal levels with each other, but also to provide a diversity which will bring people together for the sake of RP. After all, what's the fun of having a character that can do...everything?

Please keep in mind that while Types affect knowledge of most jutsu, Kekkei Genkai, Touta, and Clans techniques are exempt from this due to their inborn nature.

Primary - As its name implies, a Primary type essentially the user's specialty. This shall be their best skill, and no other art will surpass it.
Intrinsically you are better at this art than others that don't specialize in it, and as such, you are able to learn strongest techniques of this nature. Your Primary specialization allows you to learn up to 1 rank higher than you currently are.

Secondary - Next in the step of type progression is Secondary. Although not quite your forte, you are nonetheless somewhat proficient at this art, still able to hold your own if forced to rely only on it. Secondary Specialties allow you to use jutsu or techniques up to your own rank, and have one less ability of your choice than someone with a Primary

Tertiary - The lowest step in the progression, characters are marginally good at these skills. Tertiary specialties are examples of things you can do, but not very well, jutsu's and techniques can be used up to two ranks below your current rank. They also have 2 less abilities of your choice than someone with a Primary, and 1 less than someone with a secondary.

In the spirit of fairness, we like to leave things as open ended as possible. That being said, you are fully able to trade "down" your specialties, or trade up if available. A Primary Specialization can become 2 secondaries, and 1 secondary can become 2 tertiary. The choice is always yours on how you want to set up your character.

nin/gen primary


These are the people who combine their physical and spiritual chakra well enough to form incredible corporeal constructs. Most commonly, individuals will learn to channel their innate Nature Transformation and utilize it to do combat. The choice here is either Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, thus the divider Nin/Gen

Their specifications and bonuses are:

▶️ +200 Chakra.
▶️ x1 Rank Increase for two of the following Speed, Precipitation or Intelligence
▶️ 50% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques 1 Rank lower than your own
▶️ 30% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques equal to your own rank


taijutsu primary


Preferring to harness the physical aspect of their body, opposed to the spiritual, taijutsu primary-focused ninjas boast a far more impressive physique than your typical ninja. Because of this, the user's speed, agility, and reflexes are noticeably advanced.

Their specifications and bonuses are:

▶️ +50 Chakra.
▶️ x2 Rank Increase for two of the following; speed, strength or durability.
▶️ 50% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques 1 Rank lower than your own
▶️ 30% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques equal to your own rank

fuuinjutsu primary

Combining their innate intelligence, which allows them too seal objects, living beings, chakra, along with a wide variety of other things within another object. Fūinjutsu can also be used to restrict movement or unseal objects either from within something or someone.


Their specifications and bonuses are:

▶️ +150 Chakra.
▶️ x1 Rank Increase to Precipitation and Intelligence
▶️ 50% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques 1 Rank lower than your own
▶️ 30% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques equal to your own rank

medical primary


While considered a branch of Ninjutsu, it is in fact relegated to its own specialty. The ability to heal damage, bodies and minds is unique to these individuals, preferring to help rather than hurt

Their specifications and bonuses are:

▶️ +300 Chakra.
▶️ x1 Rank Increase to Durability or Intelligence
▶️ 50% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques 1 Rank lower than your own
▶️ 30% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques equal to your own rank

puppetry primary

Though this art owes its origins to the now-deserted Kaze no Kuni, the art of Kugutsu has spread world-wide and has become a favorite among tactical shinobi. However, this style is not for everyone. Still, those who have come to master this deadly art are revered by their peers and feared by their enemies (with good reason).

Their specifications and bonuses are:

▶️ +200 Chakra.
▶️ x1 Rank Increase to Speed or Intelligence
▶️ 50% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques 1 Rank lower than your own
▶️ Create puppets equal to your rank, and control as many equal to your speed + intelligence.

bukijutsu primary


The ability to use and hone weapons, specializes in the use of weapons, arms and armor to handle the majority of the combat. Bukijutsu is tricky, however it is not without its rewards, thus we have a separate topic for bukijutsu.

Their specifications and bonuses are:

▶️ x1 Rank Increase to Speed and Strength
▶️ 50% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques 1 Rank lower than your own
▶️ 30% discount on all Jutsu/Techniques equal to your own rank
▶️ Focuses equal to your intelligence
